Hohritt: Second course location in southwest Germany

Introduction

The Hohritt is situated between Karlsruhe and Freiburg at an altitude of 700 meters, offering a magnificent view over the Rhine Valley. The former hotel was acquired on November 5th, 2024, and is currently being renovated and prepared for courses. The first courses are planned for the summer of 2025.

The tranquil 5.3-hectare site, surrounded by nature, offers excellent conditions for meditation. Up to 120 students per course will have the opportunity to learn or deepen their practice of Vipassana meditation. Until then, many helping hands are needed to support the non-profit organization and the core team on site.

Getting Here

The address of the course location is Hohritt 1, 77887 Sasbachwalden.

Arrival by Train

Travel to Achern by train. From the train station, Buses run regularly to Sasbachwalden, Abzw. Hohritt. From there, walk up the hill (600 m, see the last photo at the bottom of the page).

  • Linie 400 (operates more frequently in summer than in winter)
  • Linie 423 (schedule varies on school days and holidays)

Arrival by Car

Take the A5 exit Achern and follow the signs to Achern. Shortly after the second roundabout, turn left. In the first roundabout, turn right towards Sasbachwalden and follow the road through Achern (if only "Sasbach" is signposted, continue straight). At the end of Achern, take the first exit at the roundabout towards Sasbachwalden and follow the road until you pass through the Brandmatt district. About 2 km after that, the turnoff to Hohritt is on the left.
