The Vipassana Meditation Center is expanding

Since 2009 the Vipassana Association has been working to expand the center to 150 people. The first step was the approval of the expansion by the responsible building authority in the year 2011. Since March 2012 extensive building measures for the extension took place. The comfort of accommodation and the conditions for learning Vipassana meditation have been significantly improved by the expansion. Completed until today:

  1. The sewage treatment plant has been expanded in capacity from 100 to 150 people.

  2. The new accommodation building (house C) is in use since 27.12.2012. It has 23 single rooms with private toilets and showers.

In April 2015, the new meditation building (House D) was completed. The new hall has around 300 square meters and thus offers space for 150 people. There are also 62 cells for individual meditation and a smaller hall that is mostly used for the English Dhamma discourse.

  3. The conversion of the old meditation hall (building B) into an accommodation building and new sanitary facilities was completed in January 2017. In house B there is a barrier-free room with a private bathroom and the possibility to accommodate a supervisor / carer with a disabled person

  4. Accommodation building with eight single rooms for long-term servers (house H), completed at the end of 2019. Each room contains a kitchenette. The building also offers space for offices, warehouses and workshops. Only regional companies from Oelsnitz and Plauen were commissioned with the construction, some of whom have been working well together for years.

The next steps are the construction of new buildings for the accommodation of women. Like the existing House C, these will have single rooms with WC and shower.
